A sampling of moviepudding posts—and a little bit about me.
I’m an Asian-American writer and film critic based in New York. Currently, I freelance for a range of cultural publications. My knowledge of cinema is broad and so is my appetite for all kinds of food. Long ago I studied film in college and have been writing (and eating) my entire life. (Reach out for commissiosn and assignments.)
MOVIEPUDDING is where I can blend these two passions—at its most basic, observations on what I’m eating and what I’m watching, and at a higher level what we can glean from food’s role in film. It was born partially out of a desire to offer a perspective that’s neither intimidatingly high-brow nor rooted in mainstream Marvel fandom. A lot of my favorite publications that cover film have shuddered and I’ve noticed a lack of critical food writing that goes beyond basic photologs—something that dives deeper into the flavors, in descriptive detail, and asks: is it actually worth eating?
This is a place to discover something new to watch, or reflect on what you’ve just seen. It’s where you can learn more about what you ate and, maybe, even explore how it connects with the movie you just watched.
